Glass Madison Neon Walking Tour

Neon Demo and Biking Tour

Thomas Zickuhr heating and bending glass tubing in the UW Neon Lab

Join us for a bike-tour version of the Glass Madison Neon Walking Tour! UW Neon Lab instructor Tom Zickuhr will offer a live neon demonstration at 7:30pm, sharing the handmade process of bending glass tubing into a pattern, and processing it into neon light.

Following the demonstration, Ania Bialic and Vivian Ye will take participants on a guided biking version of the Glass Madison Neon Walking Tour, starting at 8:30pm. This will be a one-way ride departing from the Arts Lofts building with four narrated stops:

  1. Motorless Motion Bicycles / Bandit / Harvey House on West Washington
  2. Badger Liquors on State Street
  3. The Majestic Theatre on King Street
  4. Overlook by Scott Shapiro on East Johnson St. @ First St.

This will be an evening ride that begins at dusk; please remember to charge your bike lights! Printed maps and coloring books will be available to all attendees.
